Mythology[]

In Greek and Roman mythology, a harpy is a female monster commonly depicted with the body of a bird of prey with the head of a maiden. They are described as the personification of storm winds. Their name means 'snatchers' or 'swift robbers', and they are said to steal food from their victims while eating and carry evildoers to the Erinyes, female deities of vengeance.
