Chateau Obsession

Alicia in Chateau Obsession

The ashes of a biological weapons laboratory. Its myriad resultant monsters infest it.

Chateau Obsession is an optional dungeon in Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, situated in Eastern Midgard near Crell Monferaigne. It is a sidequest location in Chapter 3. The ruined remnants of the building seem to be inhabited by the ghost of its former owner, a female alchemist.

Miscellaneous

  • This dungeon can be unlocked in Chapter 3 by talking to a man at the Inn in Crell Monferaigne. Return to him and tell him the boss was a monster for a reward upon clearing the dungeon.
  • The background history of this dungeon is very confusing. The in-game description states that it is a former biological weapons laboratory, and the quest giver suggests that Lady Cleo was a former alchemist who was wholly engrossed in her experiments. And yet, he also designates the Chateau as a former prison camp, which could be corroborated by the layout of the dungeon itself.
  • Defeating Lady Cleo will yield an Azure Sealpouch, which allows you to carry three Sealstones instead of two.
  • Alm and Woltar will appear at the entrance of Chateau Obsession when released.
  • Château is the French word for "castle", "obsession" having the same meaning and spelling in both languages. The name of the dungeon thus equates to Castle Obsession, possibly a reference to the former alchemist's dedication to her work, which led her to seclude herself from the outside world.
